Making sure I understand AVE vs AVE HD and aspect ratios correctly

My project size (and InDesign page size) is 1024 x 768. Regular AVE exports 1024 x 768, and AVE HD exports 2048 x 1536. Correct?

I also use these 2 (4:3) AVEs for my Android tablet (16:9) version, and live with the letter boxing, or make a new project (and InDesign pages) using 960 x 540, and exporting a regular AVE at that size, and an AVE HD at 1920 x 1080?

For all mobile phones, also use a 960 x 540 project/page, but increase my type size to compensate for the smaller physical size of the device. The 16:9 fits all/most(?) Android handsets, fills the screen on iPhone 5 & 6, and letterboxes the iPhone 4. Still correct?

Do devices then use the larger 1920 x 1080 AVE HD and scale it down to fit the smaller (for instance 1134 x 750 iPhone 6) screen, or scale up the 960 x 540 AVE? Do I even need to make an AVE HD for handsets?

I want to make as few versions of my INDD pages as possible (my author loves updating things), but still have aesthetically pleasing (readable, minimal letter boxing) pages.

And to follow up: The photos in my Adobe DPS pages at 1024 x 768 looked perfectly acceptable on my retina-screen iPad 2.

Hi Jeffrey,

As I read your posted, I wonder what's the file size of your final zave file with those aspect ratio..

can you give me some overview of your zave file size .. :)

Thank you

Work in progress, but for the 16:9 960 x 540 project, the standard .zave is 45.4 MB, and the HD .zave is 108.5 MB.
